On February 18, 2021, the New York Jewish Agenda (NYJA) hosted a mayoral candidates forum, featuring ten front-runners in the 2021 NYC mayors race.
The forum covered three major themes: COVID-19 Recovery, Education, and Antisemitism. Candidates were asked about the strained relationship between the Orthodox community and City Hall surrounding COVID, secular education in religious schools, and the alarming rise of antisemitism in New York City. Candidates also answered additional questions about immigration, policing, and Israel in a “rapid fire” round.
Randi Weingarten, a NYJA Leaders Network member, and the President of the American Federation of Teachers, moderated the conversation.
The following candidates attended:
Eric Adams
Shaun Donovan
Kathryn Garcia
Ray McGuire
Carlos Menchaca
Dianne Morales
Scott Stringer
Loree Sutton
Maya Wiley
