More than 350 people registered for the event and many hundreds more watched the livestream. We were thrilled that all eight candidates who are actively campaigning for Congress participated in in the forum.
The New York Jewish Agenda (NYJA) condemns the Supreme Court’s decision today in Dobbs v. Jackson to overturn Roe v. Wade. Congress must act to protect safe and legal abortion access nationwide. Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum said the Jewish people of NYC include LGBTQ people, converted Jewish people, Jews of color and other groups.
Rabbi Rachel Timoner said that this is the largest and first ever meeting of women Rabbis and Cantors with a Mayor of New York City.
Mayor Eric Adams addresses 55 women rabbis and cantors, representing all the major denominations; all five boroughs; Jews of Color and LGBTQ+ Jews for the largest ever meeting of Jewish women clergy with the Mayor of New York City.
On February 18, 2021, the New York Jewish Agenda (NYJA) hosted a mayoral candidates forum, featuring ten front-runners in the 2021 NYC mayors race.
On May 25, 2021, the New York Jewish Agenda (NYJA) collaborated with the New York Jewish Coalition for Criminal Justice Reform (NYJCCJR) to host a candidates forum with the eight candidates running for Manhattan DA in the June 22 primary.
