In the face of attacks on these freedoms\, Prop 1—a constitutional amendment that will appear on the ballot in New York—aims to codify reproductive rights and prevent discrimination by the government on the basis of gender\, age\, ethnicity\, pregnancy status\, disability status\, or whether someone is LGBTQ+. \nFollowing Shabbat Morning services at B’nai Jeshurun\, join us for a conversation about the importance of voting YES for Prop 1 and where the amendment fits in our broader fight to preserve our democracy. The event will feature Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal and Phylisa Wisdom\, Executive Director of New York Jewish Agenda.

DESCRIPTION:In person at Congregation Beth Elohim (CBE): On September 27th\, CBE is hosting speakers from Women Wage Peace and Women of the Sun for Kabbalat Shabbat and an informal conversation afterwards\, co-hosted by Old First Reform Church. Shabbat services will start at 6:30pm\, and will be preceded by a happy hour from 6:00pm-6:30pm.\n\nWomen Wage peace (womenwagepeace.org.il and womensun.org) are two grassroots women’s peace movements in Israel and Palestine who are partnering to create change on the ground. They are in New York to speak at the Clinton Global Initiative and to receive a human rights award from the George and Amal Clooney Foundation; CBE is honored to host and hear from them. Now\, more than ever we need to hear from the people who want change—and who are challenging all of the politicians. This is a unique opportunity.
